The Jacobite, or West Coast trains operate once or twice daily on the most scenic line between Fort William and Mallaig from April until September. This crosses the iconic Glenfinnan viaduct that features in Harry Potter. Mallaig is a small fishing village where one can take ferries to Skye and the islands Muck, Eigg, and Rum. Fort William is a base for further excursions to Glencoe, Oban, the Great Glen and Britain's highest mountain - Ben Nevis.
